An Introduction to Machine Learning Overfitting occurs when a model learns the training data too well, capturing noise and anomalies, which reduces its generalization ability to new data. Underfitting happens when a model is too simple to capture the underlying patterns in the data, leading to poor performance on both training and test data. Machine learning augments human capabilities by providing tools and insights that enhance performance. In fields like healthcare, ML assists doctors in diagnosing and treating patients more effectively.
